Ionian Islands: Lords High Commissioners: 1816-1864

The beginning of each term corresponds to the date of proclamation of the assumption of office made in the Ionian Islands (normally in Corfu). The appointment by the monarch of the United Kingdom preceded the assumption of office and is not included in the record. Lord High Commissioner and its Greek and Italian equivalents are only generic styles, being a part of the full style recorded in the Notes.
