- In full: Governor of the Provinces of the Floridas, exercising the powers of the Captain General, and of the Intendant of the Island of Cuba, over the said Provinces, and of the Governors of said Provinces respectively.
- Jackson was appointed as Commissioner of the United States and commissioned to exercise the functons of governors of East and West Florida on 10 Mar 1821. He arrived in Pensacola where he accepted the cession and assumed the government on 17 Jul 1821. Following the appointment of Walton as Acting Governor to administer the government in the absence of the incumbent, Jackson left Pensacola on 8 Oct 1821. Hw subsequently signed his resignation in Nashville on 13 Nov 1821. The resignation was accepted on 31 Dec 1821.
