  1. Also in Tennessee.
  2. The government of Texas effectively ceased to function following the surrender of the Trans-Mississippi Department, a geographical subdivision of the Confederate States Army, signed at Galveston, Texas, on 2 Jun 1865. In the capital of Texas, Austin, Governor Murrah signed a proclamation on 10 Jun 1865 calling for the election of a State Convention, but subsequently left the capital and went into exile, his departure being reported as having occurred on 13 Jun 1865. There is no evidence that Lieutenant Governor Fletcher S. Stockdale assumed the functions of governor during Murrah's absence.
