25 Nov 1783 the royal government of the Province of New York ceased to function upon the evacuation of the armed forces of Great Britain from the city of New York (Rivington's New-York Gazette, and Universal Advertiser, No. 748, 26 Nov 1783, p. 3)

Lieutenant Governor of New England (Nicholson) and some members of the Council received a report on the deposition of the Governor-in-Chief (Andros) at their meeting in New York on 26 Apr/6 May 1689 (New York Historical Society Collections, 1868, pp. 244-245). The Council continued to meet until 10/20 Jun 1689. Nicholson departed from the city of New York on 11/12 Jun 1689 and sailed for England on 24 Jun/4 Jul 1689.
