- The commission of Danforth and the members of the Council of Maine, which had been issued prior to the annexation to the Dominion of New England, was confirmed by the Convention of Massachusetts held in Boston on 28 Jun/8 Jul 1689. Danforth attended meetings of the Convention up to 13/23 Jul 1689 and again on 15/25 Aug 1689. An order issued by Danforth concerning affairs in Maine was confirmed by the Convention on 17/27 Aug 1689, implying that he resumed his functions in July or August 1689.
- During the absences of Danforth his duties were exercised by Deputy Presidents John Davis (Davess) (1689-1691) and Francis Hooke (1691-1692).
