14 Dec 1819 the Constitution of the State of Alabama, adopted by the Constitutional Convention of the Alabama Territory on 30 Jul 1819 and signed on 2 Aug 1819, is approved and Alabama is admitted to the United States under the name of the State of Alabama in accordance with a resolution of the Congress of the United States (passed by the Senate and House of Representatives on 8 Dec 1819, approved by the President of the United States on 14 Dec 1819) (Alabama Convention 1819, pp. 37-39; Statutes at Large, 3:608)

11 Jan 1861 Alabama seceded from the United States in accordance with an ordinance passed by the Convention of the People of the State of Alabama on 11 Jan 1861 (Alabama Convention 1861, 43-44; Alabama Ordinances and Constitution 1861, 3-6) [1]
8 Feb 1861 Alabama formed part of the Confederate States of America on the date when the Constitution for the Provisional Government of the Confederate States of America was approved by the Congress and came into operation (Confederate Congress Journal, 1:39; Confederate Statutes at Large, 1-8)
