  1. Bibb was commissioned as Governor on 25 Sep 1817. The commission was delivered to him at his residence in Mallorysville, Wilkes County, Georgia, about 16 Oct 1817. Bibb remained in Georgia until early December 1817, when he departed for St. Stephens, the seat of government of Alabama, arriving there on 10 Dec 1817.
  2. Following the adoption of the Constitution of the State of Alabama on 2 Aug 1819, all civil and military officers of the territorial government were authorized by a provision of the Constitution to continue in office until superseded.
