Dolder, Savary, and Rüttimann were appointed to exercise the executive functions by a resolution of the Legislative Council (Gesetzgebender Rat|Conseil législatif) on 27 Oct 1801. Dolder and Savary held the first meeting on the same day, constituting the Executive Authority (Vollziehende Gewalt|Pouvoir exécutif). Rüttimann declined to serve in a message dated 28 Oct 1801. Bay and de Saussure were appointed members of the Executive Authority by a resolution of the Senate (Senat|Sénat) on 2 Nov 1802 and assumed their functions on the same day.
After the election of two Landammans and members of the Lower Council (Kleiner Rat|Petit Conseil) on 21 Nov 1801, the Executive Authority passed a resolution for its dissolution on 22 Nov 1801.
