New Munster: Governor: 1848-1853
| Governor of the Province of New Munster | |
| 1 Jan 1848 - 7 Mar 1853 | Sir George Grey [1] |
- The Governor of New Munster served concurrently as Governor-in-Chief of New Zealand. During his frequent absences from the seat of government, Wellington, the functions of governor were exercised by Lieutenant Governor Edward John Eyre (commissioned on 23 Dec 1846; sworn in on 28 Jan 1848). After December 1850, the Governor-in-Chief of New Zealand fixed his residence at Wellington, thereby excluding the Lieutenant Governor of New Munster from any effective part in the government.
