  4. During the absence of Kennedy, the functions of Governor devolved on President of the Legislative Council Palmer who took the oath of office on 2 May 1883 and continued in office after the death of Kennedy on 3 Jun 1883.
  5. Following the death of Musgrave on 9 Oct 1888, the functions of Governor devolved on President of the Legislative Council Palmer who took the oath of office on the same day.
  6. The office of Governor of the Colony of Queensland was replaced by that of Governor of the State of Queensland on 1 Jan 1901, when the letters patent constituting the former were revoked and the new letters patent were read and published.
