[2] Original family name (birth record of 1916, Russian, contemporary spelling): Èfraim" Judel'-Gerševič" Kačal'skij (Эфраимъ Юдель-Гершевичъ Качальскій); in Israel: Kats'alsky (קצ'לסקי), changed to Katsir (קציר) in April 1973.
[3] Née Balas (בלאס); acting for the absent incumbent: 25 Jan 2007 - 1 Jul 2007.
[4] The term of office of Rivlin commenced on 1 Av 5774 (28 Jul 2014) as stated in a notice signed by the Speaker of the Knesset (Reshumot Proclamations, No. 6859, 19 Aug 2014, p. 7594). Rivlin took oath of office at the session of the Knesset on 24 Jul 2014.
