[1] Council of Safety acts as a standing committee of the Convention of Delegates of Maryland, an extra-legal assembly, meeting between 22 Jun 1774 and 11 Nov 1776; the Council assumes executive authority de facto in opposition to the Governor of the Province of Maryland who finally leaves the colony 23 Jun 1776 [Archives of Maryland, 511-515].
[2] Council of Safety was instructed to continue in office "until the next convention, and no longer", but it held its last session 21 Oct 1775.
[3] Continues in the office of President of the Council of Safety from the date of his election 18 Jan 1776 to 20 Mar 1777 when the Council of Safety held its last session; it was formally dissolved by a Concurrent Resolution of the General Assembly of Maryland of 22 Mar 1777.
