Dolder and Savary held the first meeting on the same day, constituting Vollziehende Gewalt | Pouvoir exécutif. Rüttimann declined to serve in a message of 28 Oct 1801. Bay and de Saussure were added to Dolder and Savary by a resolution of the Senat of 2 Nov 1802 and assumed their functions on the same day. [2] Dolder was not specifically designated to serve as president but the minutes of the Vollziehende Gewalt | Pouvoir exécutif and legislative acts confirm him acting in this capacity. [3] Contemporary French spelling: both Le Landammann and Le Landamman are found in Bulletin des lois. [4] Reding was elected as the (first) Landammann by the Senate (Senat | Sénat) on 21 Nov 1801 and took office on 23 Nov 1801. Under the provisions of a decree of 23 Jan 1802, he was re-elected on 6 Feb 1802 as the (first) Landammann for the year 1802. During both terms he used "Landammann" as the official style.
