[1] The adoption of the style and titles was authorized by the Royal Style and Titles Act, 1961, passed by the House of Representatives of Sierra Leone on 3 Oct 1961 (assented to on 8 Nov 1961, effective on publication in Sierra Leone Gazette, No. 76, 16 Nov 1961, Supplement (Acts), pp. 21-22). The change was effected by a proclamation issued by the Governor General on 28 Dec 1961 (effective on publication in Sierra Leone Gazette, No. 2, 4 Jan 1962, Supplement (Public Notices), p. B1).
