[1]	Elected President of the State of Palestine (Raʾīs Dawlat Filasṭīn\|رئيس دولة فلسطين) on 2 Apr 1989 (in exile, in Tunis), but abstained from official use of this style after the installation of the Palestinian National Authority (5 Jul 1994).
[2]	Elected President of the Palestinian National Authority on 12 Oct 1993 (in exile, in Tunis). Assumed the office at the meeting of the Palestinian National Authority in Jericho on 5 Jul 1994.
[3]	Elected to the office of the President of the State on 23 Nov 2008, concurrently holding the office of the President of the Palestinian National Authority to 3 Jan 2013. Both styles were used in legislation.
