On September 3, 1932, the PNR senate and chamber blocs met jointly and nominated for presidency Secretary for War and Navy General Abelardo L. Rodriguez by acclamation. On September 4 the Congress unanimously elected Rodriguez substitute president to govern from 4 Sep 1932 to 30 Nov 1934.
