| [1] | Jamahiriya is a grammatical intensification of the word jumhūriyya, the normal word in Arabic for "republic", making an abstract noun out of the plural jumhūr; jamahir. This neologism which might be roughly translated as "state of the masses" was created to describe political structure of Libya after 2 Mar 1977. |
