[1] Original name: Eugène-Rose de Beauharnais; he was proclaimed the adopted son of Napoléon I and the heir presumptive to the throne of Italy in accordance with a constitutional statute issued by Napoléon on 16 Feb 1806.
[2] Appointed by an imperial and royal decree of 7 Jun 1805; took oath of allegiance on 8 Jun 1805 in Milan.
