[1] The Constituent Assembly (Assemblea costituente) of Tuscany was given powers to address the issue of unification with the Roman Republic by a decree of the Provisinal Government of 6 Mar 1849. The Assembly debated the proposals to proclaim the republic and to form a union with the Roman Republic, but failed to reach a consensus on both issues and adopted a resolution to prorogue the session on 3 Apr 1849.
