Biography:

The third son of German social democrat Hermann Molkenbuhr, Brutus also joined the Social Democratic Party (Socialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands, SPD). In 1918 he became a member of the soldiers' council organized in hospitals of Berlin-Friedrichshain. Elected to the Vollzugsrat der Arbeiter- und Soldatenräte Groß-Berlins (Executive Council of the Workers' and Soldiers' Councils) during the meeting in the Busch Circus on 10 Nov 1918, Molkenbuhr replaced Hans-Georg von Beerfelde as its chairman on 12 Nov 1918. After he left the post of chairman (8 Jan 1919), Molkenbuhr served in the military committee of the Executive Council. Biography source: [1]
