25 Apr 1967 Swaziland acquired the status of a protected state in accordance with an agreement signed by Her Majesty's Commissioner for Swaziland on behalf of the United Kingdom and by the paramount chief (Ngwenyama) of the Swazi on behalf of Swaziland on 24 Apr 1967 (effective 25 Apr 1967)
25 Apr 1967 the Constitution of the Kingdom of Swaziland (contained in the Schedule to the Swaziland Constitution Order 1967 made on 22 Feb 1967) came into operation on 25 Apr 1967 in accordance with a proclamation issued by Her Majesty's Commissioner for Swaziland on ? ? 1967 (Government Gazette, No. ?, ? ? 1967; Statutory Instruments, 1967, Part I, Section 1, pp. 857-938)

17 May 2018 the name of the state is changed in accordance with a declaration published as Legal Notice No. 80 of 2018 (effective upon publication in Government Gazette released 17 May 2018; backdated to 19 Apr 2018) (Swazi Observer, 18 May 2018, p. 6) [3]
